Bringing digital innovations to life

Our Digital Unit

The possibilities and opportunities offered by digitization are the focus and an integral part of our corporate strategy. The aim of ECE Digital Unit is to develop innovative digital projects in and around our real estate projects and shopping centers. Together with IT Department, the team also works on the gradual digitalization of business processes at the interfaces between ECE and our retail partners and investors and evaluates ECE data in order to draw commercially-relevant conclusions that can have an impact on our business.

Projects with charisma

The power of start-ups for smart real estate

As part of a “Smart Buildings Challenge” carried out jointly with the Bosch technology group and its partners Microsoft, TÜV Süd and Deka Immobilien, we are implementing four innovative solutions for smart buildings with selected tech start-ups. In autumn 2020 the winning start-ups are putting their concepts to the test in a shopping center operated by us – Ettlinger Tor in Karlsruhe.

Everything at a glance

Numbers at a glance – and in an attractive and comprehensible design. This is exactly what the digital "Center360" offers. Whether sales figures, rental payments or visitor frequency – thanks to the digital representation of the centers in 3D with integrated visualization of all important data, no one will have to struggle through confusing evaluations and tables in the future.

New ways to communicate with tenants

Hardly anything is more important than fast and uncomplicated communication between tenants and Center Management. The coronavirus crisis has once again clearly demonstrated this. In response, we offer a digital tenant portal as an app to connect both sides better than ever before. The initial results of the pilot study are showing how successful it has been: 90% of the stores in the center are registered with the app – and 70% are already actively using it.

Data & Analytics

Anticipate market developments

How is the property market developing? And how are the sales figures of retailers developing? We want to gain insights into the future and use our excellent database, decades of experience and a wide range of models to predict market developments and trends and to produce annual forecasts.

Kunden Loyalty-Programme

Communicating with our customers, both online and offline

Positive customer experiences are at the center of our work. We are constantly optimizing our position here too. Today, social media have brought 19 million people into contact with our shopping centers. In the future, an automated chatbot system for all digital channels in our centers will provide better customer service and improved feedback opportunities; a new customer loyalty program is being prepared that will improve the shopping experience of our visitors.

Am Ball bleiben und Potentiale erkennen

Staying on point and identifying potential

Technological leaps push development forward, but also require constant evaluation. It can all quickly become confusing. Our Digital Unit remains cool and collected and keeps an eye on the market, new technologies, innovative start-ups and technology service providers. Together with the specialist departments, it strategically advances innovative digital projects, but also knows which bandwagon is better not to jump onto. It reacts quickly and flexibly to new ideas – from the initial pilot phase to the development of new, digital business models.

A variety of possibilities

At home at many events

What does the city of the future look like? What will the retail sector look like in the future? And how will we organize trade in the city of the future? Under the motto “Ready for Change”, initiators from the retail industry discussed these questions during a two-day reboot conference of the German Council of Shopping Centers in Berlin in January 2020, where Sebastian Baumann, Managing Director of Stocksquare, gave the keynote speech: “Connected Commerce – Milestone on the way to the Shopping Center 2025”.

Successful test of online ordering and delivery from the center

In Hamburg, we are testing same-day delivery for online orders from the shops of a shopping center and are taking the next step in the further development of our “Digital Mall” concept. The objective of the delivery test: To test the logistical processes required to ship products directly from shopping center stores (“ship from store”) and to gather fundamental experience for future omnichannel solutions and for expanding the “Digital Mall” concept.
