ECE develops further logistics center in Hamburg-Billbrook with focus on sustainability and flexible use

ECE is planning another state-of-the-art logistics center in Hamburg-Billbrook with flexible floor plans and a special focus on sustainability. It is the first ECE logistics project to be implemented in accordance with ECE's ESG Logistics Code: ECE's voluntary commitment to the sustainable development and realization of logistics properties comprises numerous aspects of ecological sustainability and clearly exceeds the legal requirements.

For the planned logistics center Hamburg-Billbrook, a DGNB certification in platinum is aimed for. It offers a logistics area of around 24,500 m² with flexible space sizes and variable usage options. In addition, there is another approx. 1,300 m² for office and social areas as well as approx. 3,100 m² of multifunctional space on the mezzanine. The logistics property can be divided into up to three units, which can be rented flexibly. The recently launched leasing is carried out exclusively by CBRE and Savills.

The logistics center is conveniently located in the commercial area of Hamburg-Billbrook, only 1.5 km from the A1 freeway and approx. 8 km from Hamburg city center, and is also excellently connected to the public transport network by the directly adjacent Billwerder-Moorfleet S-Bahn station and various bus lines.

Building construction work is scheduled to start in early 2023, with completion at the end of 2023. By then, the existing buildings on the brownfield site, which are no longer in use, will be demolished, revitalized by the new logistics center and put to a new use. Even the demolition will be certified to DGNB Gold standard, for example by recycling materials from the existing buildings.

ESG Logistics Code of ECE: Focus on Sustainability

The ESG standards of the ECE Logistics Code include, among others, planning according to the EH-40 standard, DGNB certification at least according to the Gold standard, the integration of photovoltaic systems and e-charging stations as well as the use of renewable raw materials during construction. All these measures will thus also be implemented for the property in Hamburg-Billbrook. In addition, there are green roof areas and efficient heat pumps.

ECE has recently planned or realized several logistics centers for flexible use, including the "Logistik-Center Berlin-Süd", which is already in operation, and the "Logistik-Center Heilbronn", which is currently under construction. In Hamburg-Billbrook, ECE has also already realized two logistics centers for the Hermes Group and for the international service provider for logistics systems STILL.
